Controlling micromanager threatens to write up employee for putting down her purse after she clocks in: 'This literally takes 2 seconds'

Nobody likes a micromanager. When we feel someone breathing down our necks, looking over our every move, it makes us perform worse. Something about being overly scrutinized makes us get nervous and then forget what we're doing. I remember when I was starting work at a coffee shop, I had been trained and had worked there for about a week, but when the boss came and closely watched what I was doing, I was having trouble putting the lids on the cups the right way. Then he over-explained the right way to put a lid on a cup. It did not help. Sometimes the best thing to do is to step back, trust your employees, and trust yourself that you trained them properly.
